THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS APPLICABLE TO ALL STUDENTS RECEIVING THEIR DEGREE:
All students who desire a degree (regardless if they plan to attend commencement) must fill out a survey and graduation application online during the semester PRIOR to the semester of graduation. Students can fill out an online application for graduation at http://www.usu.edu/registrar/htm/graduation/apply-online
When filling out your application, please note the following about your degree:
- Degree – BS in Communicative Disorders & Deaf Education
- College – College of Education and Human Services
Your academic advisor will approve your graduation application and set up your degree plan/graduation contract in DegreeWorks. She will email you at that time. Then the Dean’s office will also review and approve your graduation application in DegreeWorks.
Students should plan for the graduation application process to take at least 4 to 8 weeks. Applications are not available 15 days before they are due, giving time for processing. Please check the USU graduation webpage at http://www.usu.edu/registrar/htm/graduation for more information.
Students can contact firstname.lastname@example.org during the first part of the semester PRIOR to the semester of graduation with further questions.
In order for us to process your graduation application the following dates must be met:
|Semester||Apply By||Registrar Deadline*||Signed App to Advisor|
|Spring||February 25||March 1||March 10|
|Summer||June 25||July 1||July 10|
|Fall||September 25||October 1||October 10|
* If students miss the Registrar Deadline, their graduation will automatically be pushed to the next semester. There will be no exceptions. The Registrar's office needs processing time to meet their deadline. Please meet "APPLY BY" deadline to ensure timely graduation application processing.
Distance Students may attend commencement but are not required to do so. Please see information about commencement: http://usu.edu/commencement/
Diplomas are sent to all students (main campus & distance education) approximately 8-10 weeks following graduation.
Undergraduate students who qualify for honors will have it noted on their transcript as well as on their diplomas. The undergraduate student is required to have completed 40 USU credit hours in order to qualify for Latin honors.
Degrees can be posted as early as the Monday following graduation up to about 8 weeks after graduation.
As the curriculum is designed to meet pre-professional training requirements, students completing their degree are qualified to apply for admission to masters' program in speech-language pathology or clinical doctoral programs in audiology. While different graduate programs may have their own specific additional acceptance requirements, students should check with those graduate programs of interest to assure that this online degree program meets the necessary prerequisite course requirements.
When 2nd bachelor's degree students apply to graduate schools, some or all of their prior degree credits and grades could be calculated into the 2nd bachelor's degree GPA considered for graduate school admission. Therefore, a low GPA from a previous degree could adversely impact graduate school admission. Applicants may want to check the specific process used by those graduate schools where they will apply.
